I must tell you that tonight has been VERY productive. I've pretty much taken apart Underwater Orphan (originally Names We Know), and have ONCE AGAIN renamed it. It may very well change again, but as of right now, it's called All That Noise. It is by far the angriest song I've EVER written. I'm not going to tell you what it's about - you should be able to figure it out when you hear the song. But the main line of the song is "Who's Laughing Now?" - EEK!
And the inspiration for tonight has been the incredible and very creative Animal Collective - and let me put this out there that there is no way they are not high when they write their music. This cd is the best CD released so far this year, and has some of the most inventive melodies I've ever heard. I must say this album is not for everyone - it is Very wierd. Takes some getting used to. But "My Girls" and "In the Flowers" greatly helped me figure out All That Nosie/Underwater Orphan/Names we Know. Dang that title.
Anyway, my next battle is to tear down the song that is scaring me right now: A Day In The Life of A Lover. Depending on how tomorrow goes, I may move on and start Cause + Cause, because that song I'm thinking may just be piano and vocal...maybe a bit of strings? Maybe not? These are all questions I will think about tomorrow.
But after Cause + Cause, I will have all my songs done. Wow. Of course, I will probably go back and change everything all over again, seeing as I'm already sick of the music. Yuck. I just want to finish this dang thing. I really want this to be good, so I'm taking my time. I will never be satisfied, but I will try to get as close as possible.
