6-15: World, Re-discoveries, Killing a Song

Hey world. Today, my inspiration is from a wonderful man named Jon Hopkins. He is a mastermind who produces and plays everything. You may know him without knowing him...haha. He wrote the track that bookends Coldplay's Viva La Vida album. Check out his cd Insides which was JUST released! He's incredible.

So today, I started attacking World. I wrote this song almost 4 years ago, and it remains unchanged. How cool? But I began messing with it, and with some inspiration from Mr. Hopkins, it has begun to sound mighty nice...if I don't say so myself. It has a techno-flare to it. MMm.

Now for 11:11. The song I have been WANTING TO DESTROY. I was previewing some songs for Harry, when I got to 11:11. I showed him the version I had saved, which I have not listened to for maybe two months because I've been so PISSSSSED about it. But after listening to it with him, I've discovered I actually LOVE it the way it is. Everything just cliked: The lyrics, the music, the melody, the meaning. It all makes sense now. So all I have to do is do some remixing, redoing EQ's, and that song is done! YAY! (took long enough.) Thank you Harry for saving the song. I really wanted to keep it because it's the only song in 3/4 on the album, and it's one of the only real DARK songs, and the album needed that.

I've messed up on Day In the Life of a Lover. I have to remix the whole thing. Whereas yesterday it was going splendidly, it's a big fat pile of crap right now. Shoot me in the head, please. *bang* Thank you.

To your left, you see the paper that is pasted to my wall. It is the list of songs I have slated for the album. As you can see, I have four songs' instrumentals finished, and I Need You is COMPLETELY finished (vocals and all!). You can also see Crying Over Spilled Milk and The Names We Know are possible additions. I'll post a picture of this anytime it changes. I also have arrows changing the order of the album. I had all the songs in minor keys right next to eachother (11:11, Ghosts + Goblins, Cause + Cause). Couldn't have that.


Anyway. That's it for now. I'm going to Bingowonderland with Harry. LET'S WIN SOME MONEY, YAH! Woo.
